By reconstituting four perfectly extraordinary, but very real, stories Marcus Lindeen and Marianne Ségol raise questions about the notion of memory. Their unique form of theatre, in which spoken words of a personal nature are exchanged and feed off each other, is scrupulously crafted and philosophical in equal measure.
Following on from La Trilogie des identités, the latest piece by the Swedish author and director Marcus Lindeen and the playwright-translator Marianne Ségol is at the crossroads between documentary theatre and writing at its most intimate. It revolves around an Austrian ceramist's quest to find a way of stocking or storing the story of Humanity, an individual who regularly loses their memory, his wife, a writer, who helps him find it, and a queer archaeologist who puts forward a different way of writing history. By means of an immersive staging, these extraordinary, but very real, journeys are brought to life by non-professional performers. Throughout the course of the show, the audience has the impression of being present during a conversation. What does this piece set out to do? More than anything, it seeks to make us question the notion of memory: how does it shape our own life history? Why is it necessary to forget? And above all: what is actually worth remembering?
