In this concert created especially for the Alice Diop Carte Blanche, Mélissa Laveaux presents a constellation of her own poetic texts and musical compositions.

Mélissa Laveaux is a Canadian-born artist with a wide range of musical horizons. After her debut album Camphor & Copper in 2008, she moved to Paris and released Dying Is A Wild Night in 2013. In 2018, her album Radyo Siwèl highlighted the power of music as an instrument of political resistance. Following a tour in 2019, she explores the therapeutic dimension of music by reinventing the lullaby with Mama Forgot Her Name Was Miracle. This fourth studio album pays tribute to the forgotten heroines of history and expresses the power of creativity and beauty.
