Based on John Berger’s account of the life of a doctor in 1960s rural England, Un métier ideal is at once a coming-of-age tale, a sociological analysis and a philosophical enquiry
on human nature and the meanings of empathy. After adapting the writings of French film critic Serge Daney, Nicolas Bouchaud and stage director Éric Didry draw the portrait
of a man completely dedicated to his calling.
