Inspired by two stories by Jun’ichirô Tanizaki, Shun-kin marks a return to Japanese literature for Simon McBurney and his company Complicite, after their theatrical adaptation of Haruki Murakami’s writings in 2004. With a fully Japanese cast, Shun-kin tells the story of a servant’s selfless love for his blind mistress, where passion and sadism coexist.
