A legend of European theatre, Peter Stein returns to the Festival d’Automne 35 years after his first appearance there. He adapts Dostoïevski’s Devils in an intense, quasi-cinematic 12-hour performance, testifying to his mastery of directing. Peter Stein’s devils become symptoms of our times, at once materialistic, nihilistic and ready to put everything in doubt.
