Following The Tragedy of Carmen and Impressions of Pelleas, Peter Brook’s free interpretation of Mozart’s opera is a poetic invocation more than a scrupulous adaptation. His spare and subtle directing sheds a new vibrating light on Mozart’s masterpiece. Composer Franck Krawczyk conducted the musical transcription.
