George Benjamin / Alexandre Scriabine / Maurice Ravel

In this third, and last, part of his portrait, Benjamin appears as an extraordinary orchestrator in a contemplative and dazzling work. It is a lesson in orchestration in which he never wastes time on theoretical speculation or anachronistic seduction. The correspondence with Ravel is obvious.  And all the more so with Scriabine, whose attempt to achieve ecstasy and fusion with the Universe could provide a subtitle for this concert.
