Music venues – a symposium

Archive 2006

Partners: Festival d’Automne à Paris, Maison de l’architecture, École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) and CNRS
Organized by: Groupe “Musique, Anthropologie, Globalisation” CNRS–EHESS (Denis Laborde)

What is the specificity of music venues? Why are they built? For whom? What issues are at stake? Curators, directors, architects, composers, sociologists and ethnologists in Los Angeles, Berlin or Sydney draw parallels between these new buildings and institutions, and the dynamics of cultural life in a given country. The symposium will conclude with a Q&A session.
