In a quasi-anthropological approach to vernacular cultures, as acted and observed in large popular events, this two-part documentary of a particular kind merges a yearly ritual in Orléans with a hot-dog competition. And the monstrous consumerism of “Eat all that you can eat” combines with the patriotism of a Joan of Arc in armor, parading on horseback in front of a McDonald’s in a provincial town.
