À la lumière des deux mondes

To balance the exhibition of Brazilian landscapes painted by a 17th century Dutch painter, the Louvre chose the perfect site for Tunga’s commissioned piece about the relations between the cultures of the new and the old worlds: smack under I.M. Pei’s pyramid at the Louvre! The result, a hanging sculpture of soft and hard interwoven materials mixing iron canes, dull-gilt skulls, melted bronze heads, a gold comb... reformulates the alchemy of the museum, between black and gold.
