Théo Mercier

Born in Paris in 1984, Théo Mercier lives and works between his native city and Mexico City. For more than ten years, he has been developing a polymorphous body of work at the crossroads of art and time, between the museum and the theatre stage, which he likes to bring into collision. Théo Mercier was a resident at the Villa Médicis in 2013 and nominated the following year for the Marcel-Duchamp prize, and has had solo exhibitions in France and around the world. Since 2014, he has been creating pieces for the stage, including Affordable Solution For Better Living, which was awarded the Silver Lion at the 2019 Venice Biennale. In 2021, Théo Mercier will create the first part of Outremonde at the Collection Lambert as part of the Avignon Festival, then the second in June 2022 at Luma Westbau, Zurich. In June 2023, he represented the French pavilion "Pays et Régions" at the Quadriennale de scénographie in Prague, in collaboration with its director. He presents a solo exhibition at the Villa Medici in Rome from June to September 2023.
