Rosana Cade

A queer artist based in Glasgow, Scotland, Rosana Cade works in experimental theatre, live art, queer cabaret, film and children's theatre. Aside from Cade & MacAskill, the duo formed with her partner, Rosana's work often plunges viewers into unusually intimate situations that give rise to intense possibilities for self-reflection. The artist seeks to connect audiences directly to the perspectives and vulnerabilities of others, notably with Walking:Holding, which has toured over 40 different venues in the last ten years. Rosana has toured extensively throughout Europe with venues and organisations such as Gessnerrallee in Zurich, Battersea Arts Centre in London, Fierce Festival in Birmingham, Teatro Maria Matos in Lisbon, Frascati in Amsterdam, Kampnagel in Hamburg, Tanzquartier in Vienna, Summerhall in Edinburgh as part of the Made in Scotland and British Council showcases, and Vier Nul Vier in Gent. Rosana is also co-founder of Glasgow Buzzcut, an organisation that supports live art and experimental performance in Scotland.

Rosana Cade, Ivor MacAskill
The Making of Pinocchio

Theatre

Drawing upon Collodi's tale, the Cade-MacAskill duo uses theatre to investigate the little- explored realms of queer love and affection. In doing so, they tell the story of gender transition and its repercussions on the couple. The piece itself, The Making of Pinocchio, becomes a burlesque-inspired manifesto for different forms currently under construction.
