Rimini Protokoll
Helgard Haug, Stefan Kaegi and Daniel Wetzel studied at the Institute of Applied Theatre Studies in Giessen and work together under the name Rimini Protokoll. They are recognised as the leading figures in the theatre movement known as "Reality Trend" (Theater der Zeit): each project begins with a concrete situation in a specific location, and is then developed in an intensive exploratory process. Rimini Protokoll has attracted international attention with dramatic works set in an undecided zone between reality and fiction. Since 2000, they have introduced 'expert theatre' to the stage space of various cities, performed by non-professional actors whom they call 'experts' precisely for this reason. Helgard Haug, Stefan Kaegi and Daniel Wetzel have been artists in residence at Hebbel am Ufer (HAU) Berlin since 2004. In November 2011, Rimini Protokoll won the Silver Lion at the 41st Venice Biennale.

Stefan Kaegi (Rimini Protokoll) This is not an embassy (Made in Taiwan)
Rimini Protokoll's roving director Stefan Kaegi takes us, in the company of three native performers and residents, to the island of Taiwan. The fictional element of this show, in which the onstage action filmed live takes us through the twists and turns of a miniature décor, points to a somewhat grotesque geopolitical reality.
