Myriam Gourfink

Born in 1968, Myriam Gourfink is a dancer and choreographer whose research focuses on movement writing. Founded on the breathing techniques of yoga, her dance is based on a rigorous organisation of support and an acute awareness of space. Guided by the breath, the dance is slow, thick and continuous. This knowledge of movement and space makes it possible to design choreographies without an exploration phase in the studio, where each piece invites the dancer to be aware of their actions and what is going through them. Thanks to her work, Myriam Gourfink has been invited to many international festivals, including Springdance in New York, the Kunstenfestivaldesarts in Brussels, La Bâtie Festival in Geneva and the Festival Danças Na Cidade in Lisbon. From 2008 to 2013, she directed the Programme de Recherche et de Composition Chorégraphiques de Royaumont, abbaye et fondation and, in 2012, programmed the cycle "Les danses augmentées" at the Gaîté Lyrique. Supported by the Centre Pompidou since 1999, her work was the subject of a focus on "Les formes du temps" at the inauguration of the Centre Pompidou x Westbund Museum Project in Shanghai in 2019.

Rêche

Dance

Fill your lungs. Feel the volumes of air inflating inside you in opposite directions. In Rêche, to be presented at the Pantheon, seven dancers enable us to see what is at stake in our bodies when we breathe. For choreographer Myriam Gourfink, this vital movement absorbs our fears and transforms the harshest behaviour into a gentler one.
