Mohamed El Khatib

Mohamed El Khatib is a writer, director and producer who develops unique documentary fiction projects in the fields of performance, literature and cinema. Through his intimate epics, he invites a farmer, a cleaning lady and sailors to co-write with him about the present day. After Moi, Corinne Dadat, in which a cleaning lady and a ballet dancer took stock of their skills, he continued his exploration of the working class with STADIUM, a play in which 58 supporters of the Racing Club de Lens were invited on stage. Mohamed El Khatib won the Grand Prix de Littérature dramatique 2016 for his play Finir en beauté, in which he evokes the end of his mother's life. His play C'est la vie, which won a prize from the Académie française, closes this cycle on the question of bereavement. Finally, he tackles the question of inheritance in his latest film, Renault 12, a road movie between Orleans and Tangiers. In 2021, he presents Boule à neige with Patrick Boucheron at the Festival d'Automne à Paris, followed by Gardien Party with Valérie Mréjen.

Mohamed El Khatib
La vie secrète des vieux

Theatre

Mohamed El Khatib furthers his passion for documentary theatre by tackling a subject that he brings from out of the shadows, namely that of eroticism and the love lives of “oldies”. Put together in a daring yet tender way, his new piece explores this theme from the perspective of desire, thereby going against the usual connotations associated with old age.

Stand-up

Theatre

What will it be this time: thunderous applause or icy silence? In Mohamed El Khatib's opinion, the inherently risky nature of stand-up comedy elevates it to a theatrical art in its own right. A framework for expression of all kinds, it clears the path for transgressive laughter, in a cathartic space which brings us all together.
