Mathilde Monnier
Mathilde Monnier came to dance late in life, and after dancing in the companies of Viola Farber and François Verret, she began to take an interest in choreography in 1984, alternating between group creations, solos and duets. From piece to piece, she has defied expectations by presenting work that is constantly evolving. Her artistic questioning is linked to issues of movement writing in relation to broader questions such as the "en commun", the relationship with music and memory. Her shows, such as Pour Antigone, Déroutes, Les lieux de là, Surrogate Cities, Soapéra and Twin paradox, have been invited to play on some of the world's biggest stages and festivals. She alternates the creation of projects that she signs alone with co-signed projects, meeting with various personalities from the world of the arts: Katerine, Christine Angot, La Ribot, Heiner Goebbels... She directed the Centre chorégraphique de Montpellier from 1994 to 2014, then the CND Centre national de la danse in Paris from 2014 to 2019. Mathilde Monnier is resuming her creative work with Please Please Please (2019), which she created in collaboration with La Ribot & Tiago Rodiguez, Records (2021) and Black Lights (2023).

Mathilde Monnier Territoires
In Territoires, Mathilde Monnier will be taking over the galleries of the Centre Pompidou during the course of a weekend in order to bring us a piece that deals with memory and circulation, "a collection of gestures from her work over the past thirty years". In doing so, the choreographer sets up the possibility of playing out memory in the present, from now onwards, or by means of anticipation.
