Manon de Boer
Born in 1966 in Kodaicanal, India, Manon de Boer studied at the Akademie Van Beeldende Kunsten in Rotterdam and the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. Working mainly in the audiovisual field, she is interested in the experience of time: firmly anchored in the conditions of creation, constantly producing a present and a presence, it resists a functional and productive normative concept. Alongside her films, she is increasingly working with sculpture and installation. In 2021, she created the performance Ghost Party with Latifa Laâbissi. Her work has been exhibited internationally, at the Venice Biennale (2007), the Berlin Biennale (2008) and the São Paulo Biennale (2010), and has also been included in numerous film festivals in Hong Kong, Marseille, Rotterdam and Vienna. His work has been the subject of monographic exhibitions at the Witte de With in Rotterdam (2008), the Frankfurter Kunstverein (2008), the South London Gallery (2010), the Museum of Art Philadelphia (2012), the Van Abbe Museum in Eindhoven (2013), the Gulbenkian Museum Lisbon (2020), and the Kunstmuseum St.Gallen (2022), among others.

Latifa Laâbissi, Manon de Boer Ghost Party (1)
Which voices nourish artistic practices? In parallel with the exhibition "Chantal Akerman. Travelling" presented at the Jeu de Paume art centre, the artist Manon de Boer and choreographer Latifa Laâbissi conjure up a space in which voice and gesture seek to understand the meaning of artistic genealogies.
