Kae Tempest
Kae Tempest was born in 1985 in the London suburb of Brockley. Fascinated by words, they made their debut in the world of rap and hip hop at the age of sixteen, performing their own lyrics. They also write for the Royal Shakespeare Company, slamming Shakespearean verse. They made a name for themself on spoken-word tours, before going on to write plays and a novel. After the success of Everybody Down in 2014, a modern fable about tragedy and redemption, they recorded Let Them Eat Chaos (2016) and The Book of Traps and Lessons (2019). Their first novel, The Bricks that Built the Houses, was a resounding success worldwide. In France, Les éditions de L'Arche publishes their theater and poetry: Brand New Ancients in 2017, winner of the Ted Hughes Poetry Prize in 2012, and two plays, Wasted in 2018 and Hopelessly devoted in 2020.
