Jan Goossens
Based between Brussels and Tunis, Jan Goossens has been co-artistic director of the Dream City festival, the independent, interdisciplinary biennial in the medina of Tunis, since 2015. He is also co-head of mission for the Brussels-Capital Region in preparing the city's bid to become the European Capital of Culture in 2030. From 2016 to 2011, he was director of the Marseille Festival, where he set himself the task of transforming the festival into a real hub: between dance, theatre and music; between existing cultural establishments and the public space; between a highly multicultural city and the world around it; between Marseille and other Mediterranean capitals; between North and South. Between 2001 and 2016, he directed the KVS in Brussels, which he transformed into an institution deeply rooted in the reality of the city, open to contemporary creation, with a strong involvement in several projects linked to the public space, and in intense dialogue with other major globalised capitals, such as Ramallah in Palestine and Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
